Cancellation of Classes - Wind damage

As you will be aware, strong winds are causing
significant issues across all campuses.
Due to safety concerns,
all lectures and class are to be cancelled immediately.
Emergency Services have recommended that
people remain indoors wherever possible.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT


** Severe weather alert for all campuses -
staff and students are advised to remain
indoors**

This official mail has been authorised by
Dr Michael Thorne, Executive Director, Chancellery
Due to extreme wind damage across Melbourne,
staff and students are advised to remain inside buildings where possible.
In particular, John Street and Wakefield Street
have been affected by falling debris.

Please also exercise great care when returning home this evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology have issued the following warning
and are also advising people to stay indoors:

Motorists are advised of extremely windy conditions
during today with gusts of between 100 and 130 km/h.
This will be followed by a period of rain late this afternoon
and evening with a squally westerly change
The State Emergency Service has called for Victorians
to prepare for the winds by securing any loose objects-
such as children's pay equipment- around the house,
parking cars undercover, and looking out for fallen powerlines
and debris across roadways.
